Dr Nandini Banerjee is a senior consultant in Respiratory Medicine (Pulmonology) at the Tata Medical Center, Kolkata. An alumnus of National Medical College, Kolkata and K G Medical College, Lucknow, Dr Banerjee completed her higher training in Respiratory Medicine (CCT) in the UK. After working in the UK NHS for over a decade, Dr Banerjee joined Tata Medical Center Kolkata in 2013. A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and the Higher Education Academy UK, Dr Banerjee is a member of the British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, Indian Chest Society and Indian Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. She has formally trained in medical education and medical ethics from the University College London and University of Birmingham.Dr Banerjee has received extensive training in diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, medical thoracoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound in the UK and Europe and is a skilled practitioner of these techniques in her everyday practice. She takes keen interest in pulmonary interventions.She runs a twice weekly outpatient clinic at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata dealing with all aspects of respiratory disease (acute, chronic, cancer, non cancer) and a twice weekly endoscopy service to diagnose and treat lung and pleural (lining of the lung) diseases. She takes special interest in managing pleural effusions and also leads a dedicated pleural service for pleural effusion drainage, chest tube insertion, pleural biopsy, pleurodesis, medical thoracoscopy and patient managed home drainage of pleural fluid.
