Most ovarian cysts are treated as functional and are part of the monthly cycle. They include: • Follicle Cyst: When the follicle sac does not open every month, it leads to the development of a follicle cyst which then goes away in a span of one to three months. • Corpus Luteum Cyst: As soon as the egg gets released, the empty follicle normally shrinks and helps the body prepare for the next egg. It turns into a cyst instead when it closes back up and the fluids build up inside. Nonfunctional Many women have ovaries with small cysts all over. This condition is known as PCOS and makes it difficult for them to get pregnant.
