What are the causes of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)?
Right now, the precise reasons behind the development of PCOS problem is not yet known. But speculation has been made in the medical community regarding its connection to low-grade inflammation, genetics, and excess insulin. • High Insulin Levels: Insulin is the hormone controlling how the consumed food gets converted to energy. The term ‘insulin resistance’ is a condition where the cells of the body are unable to respond the normal way to insulin. Because of this, the insulin blood levels increase significantly. A lot of women with polycystic ovaries develop insulin resistance, mostly those who are obese or overweight, are physically inactive, eat unhealthy food, and suffer from a family history of diabetes. In due time, this insulin resistance causes PCOD problems. • High Androgen Levels: Androgens, often known as male hormones, exist in both men and women, even though women usually produce a tiny amount of these hormones. Androgens are responsible for the development of male characteristics, like male-pattern baldness. PCOS-diagnosed women, however, have a higher androgen level than normal. This often prevents the ovaries from ovulating regularly at the time of the menstrual cycle, and leads to the growth of severe acne and hair, both of which are indicators of PCOS. • Genetics: Genes also play a part in the development of what is known as polycystic ovarian syndrome. The risk may be inherited.
