What are the best treatments for burning feet due to diabetes?
Neuropathy is a commonly occurring diabetic complication that can trigger burning feet sensation. Impaired glucose tolerance in diabetes patients often ends up affecting the walls of the blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to the nerves. It also tends to dampen the signal transmission from these nerves. In time, sensations in different organs are reduced, including in the feet. Nerve damage in legs and feet is termed as peripheral neuropathy. Statistics indicate that around 60-70% diabetics suffer from one or the other form of nerve damage. You can try these measures to get some relief from burning feet sensation caused by diabetes: • Optimize your medications, diet, exercise routines and other aspects of lifestyle to maintain a healthy blood glucose level at all times. • Ease nerve pain with drugs and nerve stimulation in the form of magnetic therapy, electrical nerve stimulation, laser therapy and light therapy. • Consume half a tablespoon apple cider vinegar diluted in a glass of water thrice a day. • Sunbathe for around 20 minutes a day to meet your Vitamin D requirements. Foot Care: • Improve blood circulation to the feet by practicing moderate to high level exercises on a daily basis for at least half an hour. If not every day, exercise at least 4 times a week. Walking, swimming, running, cycling, yoga or other forms of exercises should suffice.
