Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that pass from one individual to another through sexual contact. The disease-causing agents (bacteria, viruses or parasites) can transfer during vaginal, anal or even oral sex. While it is difficult to contract STDs as physical intimacy is a must, these infections are quite common. This is because of the general unawareness about how to practice safe sex and prevent these diseases. Further, there are other sources from where you can get these infections, viz. unsterilized drug needles, contaminated tattooing equipment and blood transfusions. Pregnant women with STDs can also pass it on to their babies during childbirth or breastfeeding. Common STDs/STIs that affect men are chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, hepatitis B and C, genital warts (HPV), Zika virus, HIV and syphilis.
Doctor me newly married. Male (28). Wedding was last year, 8 months back. Me thinking about one thing. What are these STDs? How you get them? Which diseases are common? Please give a list of those that occur a lot in men.
