Have plenty of fiber and cut back fats in your diet. Veggies, fruits, whole grains and legumes are great choices in this regard. Sweet potatoes can be your fiber-rich healthy snacks. When consuming veggies, try to have them raw, steamed, boiled, roasted or grilled. Avoid deep frying or adding extra butter or salt to cooked veggies. Do not go for high-sodium canned veggies. Spinach, kale, carrots, broccoli, green beans, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes, etc. are options to look for. Among fruits, choose berries, apples, oranges, pears, bananas, plums, grapes, peaches, cherries, melons, etc. Oats, brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat, black beans, lentils, peas, soybeans, corn, barley, millet, etc. are some of the best whole grains and legumes. And, you can get your proteins from egg whites, soybeans and low-fat yogurt. Non vegetarian sources of protein are skinless chicken and fish (tuna). You should also drink lots of water every day.
