Social anxiety is a problem that makes people feel mortified in public, out of fear of embarrassment. And social pain is worse than physical pain because patients keep on reliving it again and again with greater intensity. Dealing with social anxiety is not the easiest thing in the world, but it is not impossible. They must confront their emotions head-on and identify them to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Premeditation is also helpful as is reappraisal. The more the patient tweaks the narrative, the more his/her feelings change and some of the stress gets relieved.
