A fluid-rich diet is strongly recommended to prevent constipation during pregnancy. Have lots of fruit juice, especially prune juice along with water to ease your bowel issues. At the same time, exercise a bit every day. Walk, do yoga or take up other physical activities as per your comfort. If the problem persists, consult a doctor who can prescribe a fiber supplement and/or a stool softener. Stool softeners are minimally absorbed by the body and hence safe for pregnancy. Also, let your doctor know if you take any iron supplements. Excess iron is one of the causes of constipation during pregnancy. But be sure to consult your doctor before taking any medicine.
