Depression is closely associated with heart disease. When people feel down or anxious or stressed, they are not able to make healthy choices and easily become overwhelmed by a situation. In this case, the mental health of a person is usually underestimated. Depression can lead to physiological problems in the body as well like elevated stress hormones, higher glucose levels, and greater levels of cortisol. The patient needs to take care of his/her overall well-being and outlook along with his/her cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
