About Dandruff

Dandruff is a widespread medical condition that affects the scalp. The problem manifests as small, white dead skin flakes that appear in the hair and on your shoulders. Dandruff is often itchy, and your scalp may seem irritated and red, crusty, or scaly. The causes of dandruff tend to vary and includes various theories. Since dandruff usually occurs at the time of puberty and decreases during middle age, one theory involves hormone triggers. Another one is associated with excessive yeast and other fungal conditions. Dandruff is often seen as dry skin on the scalp or accompanied by other problematic conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. A few individuals with sensitivities to ingredients in hair products often experience dandruff. The problem doesn’t just affect people with dry skin or hair; it is found in oily hair as well. Dandruff can be embarrassing and unsightly. Thankfully, it can be treated and prevented as soon as the cause of the dandruff is identified.
