We advise a visit to a pediatric dermatologist as baby eczema treatments and their doses vary depending on the acuteness of the symptoms. Emollients, alone or paired with a low-strength steroid will work for mild eczema but you may need heavy corticosteroids along with emollients in case of severe eczema. Oral antihistamines are reserved for cases of extreme itchiness that makes it difficult for your baby to sleep. Wet wraps and dry bandages are used if eczema is really acute. For eczema that matures into a skin infection (indicated by bleeding or fluid oozing), antibiotics, antifungal or antiviral medicines may be required. Topical calcineurin inhibitors are anti-inflammation drugs that defend against chemicals causing eczema flare-ups. Be careful, do not use potent steroids without prescription and also when you are advised by a dermatologists please continue the medicine only for the requisite days as advised by the doctors.
